Discover Narooma
In and around Narooma there are great ocean beaches and estuaries which a suitable for all kinds of water sports, including fishing, snorkeling, water skiing and diving.
Attractions in the area include a spectacular golf course perched on the clifftops, world class diving, whale watching and surfing and the trip to Montague Island Nature Reserve has been described as the best maritime adventure in New South Wales.
Narooma has a rich aboriginal history with many local landmarks bearing their traditional names. Majestic Mount Dromedary is now know by it's traditional name of Mount Gulaga and is of great spiritual significance to the Yuin people. Walking trails will take you to the summit from the villiage of Tilba - the views of the coast on a clear day are spectacular !!
Narooma is also home to the Great Southern Blues Festival, held annually on the October long weekend.
Narooma Golf Course
Narooma’s most famous six holes are perched high on cliffs overlooking the Pacific Ocean – but the back nine also offers something slightly different as it heads slightly inland to feature a series of holes framed by tall timbers – before meandering around a large lake that comes into play on six of the nine holes.
It is the range of varying conditions created by the ocean and forest sections of the course that are greatly appreciated by many golfers who relish the challenge of a vastly changing environment within a single round of golf. Check out our golf and accomodation packages here.
Whale Watching
The perfect location for whale watching. Whales come heart-stoppingly close to Narooma, brought in on warm, krill-rich currents as the continental shelf dips closer to shore than anywhere else along the east coast of Australia.
The Tilba Region
The Tilba region is one of the most popular drawcards of the Eurobodalla Nature Coast. Central Tilba is a magnet for visitors with its working village atmosphere and variety of excellent produce and wares. Stores include a leatherworks, cobbler, bakery, ABC Cheese Factory, woodturner, toy store, lolly shop, galleries, heaps of arts and crafts, a great pub as well as lovely cafes.
Just south of Central Tilba at Tilba Tilba, Foxglove Spire Gardens are stunning. Take a picnic and spend a day strolling through these beautiful woodland gardens.
Nearby, the nursery, cafe, antique and gift stores complete a great day out at Tilba Tilba.
Dive with seals Montague Island
You will be amazed at how clear the water is at Montague Island!
Check out the millions of fish and romp with the playful fur seals! You may also see graceful gliding stingrays and bullrays as well as blue groper, wobbegongs and port jacksons just to name a few. The visibility is 20-30 metres most of the time in the beautiful Batemans Marine Park. Top diving for all!
Alternatively have a snorkel with the cheeky fur seals or just enjoy your afternoon tea while you watch their antics and then head off on a whale watch or wildlife cruise! Not everyone likes to catch fish.
Moruya Markets
Soak up the atmosphere at the Moruya Markets, fossick for a bargain at the many arts & crafts, clothing, bric-a-brac, plant and fresh produce stalls. There are also stalls selling hot and cold food.
Moruya is 25min from Narooma heading north.

Visit Australia Rock
Australia Rock is a popular photo opportunity. Viewed at just the right angle, the hole in the rock at Wagonga Head, has an uncanny resemblance to a map of Australia (without Tasmania). There are various explanations for how the rock formed into this continental likeness, including that it is simply a natural result of thousands of years of erosion of the ancient chert and shale headland. One of the more interesting tales is that the hole was created inadvertently when a ship was moored to the heads with large chains. In heavy seas the chains wore away the rock to create the familiar shape you see today.
Australia Rock is part of the Narooma Accretionary Complex and Chevron Folds, the results of the pressure from the Pacific Plate's collision with the land.
Narooma Kinema
Narooma Kinema is a heritage listed building with a certain charm that has welcomed people through the doors since 1928. Mainstream, arthouse and independent films are screened and live shows and performances are hosted. A must-see attraction in Narooma! And don't forget to enjoy our infamous homemade choctops.
Mill Bay Boardwalk
Along the scenic Mill Bay Boardwalk, gaze out on the beautiful emerald water and see that it is teeming with life. Large schools of fish are regularly swimming about, making this a good fishing spot. Sting rays are a regular along the boardwalk, but are often spotted competing with seals for food as the fishermen clean their catch of the day near the boat ramp.
The Boardwalk is located on the northern side of Wagonga Inlet and starts at Mill Bay. Heading north, turn first right after the Narooma Bridge into Centenary Drive, and first right again to park at Mill Bay. Alternatively, continue to Apex Park, park your vehicle, cross at the boat ramp, and start the Boardwalk from there.
After the boardwalk itself you can choose to head to the delightful eateries overlooking Forsters Bay, or follow the cycle/walk path to Australia Rock at the Wagonga Inlet entrance.
